Rejoin Leon and Claire on their zombie-infested adventure, with heart-stopping encounters and mind-bending puzzles.  This Remake perfectly blends nostalgia and fresh elements, making it an absolute must-play for die-hard fans and newbies alike. 

Trust me, you’ll be glued to your screen, screaming and cheering your way through this terrifying masterpiece. Resident Evil 2 Remake truly deserves a spot in your list of classic horror games to play. It’s an experience you won’t forget!

As a fan of horror games, Resident Evil 3 Remake was the ultimate experience. The game follows Jill Valentine (S.T.A.R.S.) as she tries to escape Raccoon City while being chased by Nemesis, and let me tell you, that thing is terrifying. The graphics are so well done, and the gameplay mechanics are smooth and seamless. The new dodge move and crafting system make the game even more exciting.

But what really impressed me was the expanded story. The characters are fleshed out more, and you get to know them on a whole new level. Plus, there are even new characters to meet! It’s like you’re really in this world, fighting for your life.

Overall, the Resident Evil 3 Remake is a game that horror fans absolutely need to try. It’s a modern take on a classic that successfully brings the horror and tension to a whole new level.

Silent Hill 2 and 3 HD Collection

If you’re a horror game fan and haven’t played Silent Hill 2 and 3 HD Collection yet, you’re seriously missing out! These classics have been remastered in HD, making them even more terrifying and immersive than before. In Silent Hill 2, you play as James Sunderland, who’s searching for his wife in the creepy town of Silent Hill. And in Silent Hill 3, you’re Heather, a young girl caught up in a twisted cult’s plot.

The “sightjacking” mechanic is insanely cool – you get to see through the eyes of your enemies, helping you outsmart those horrifying reanimated corpses. The game’s blend of stealth, combat, and puzzles kept me on my toes and genuinely scared. 

I can’t recommend Siren: Blood Curse enough; the chilling atmosphere and heart-pounding experience make it a must-play for any horror fan!

Amnesia: The Dark Descent 

A first-person horror adventure game with heavy elements and themes influenced by H.P. Lovecraft’s works.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a bone-chilling horror masterpiece that redefined the genre and ignited the indie horror resurgence. Developed by Frictional Games, this first-person survival horror game plunges players into the eerie depths of a Germanic castle as Daniel, a young Englishman with a mysterious past. 

With no weapons, you’ll have to rely on your wits and resourcefulness to stay alive and uncover the terrifying secrets lurking within the castle’s shadowy halls.

Amnesia’s haunting atmosphere, creepy sound design, and clever use of psychological horror create a genuinely unsettling experience. The game’s sanity mechanic adds another layer of tension. Witnessing horrifying events or staying in the dark for too long can cause Daniel’s sanity to deteriorate, leading to disturbing hallucinations and a blurred sense of reality. 

Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a must-play classic that will leave even the bravest of players with lingering nightmares.

Outlast 

A first-person survival horror game where players must navigate through an asylum filled with danger.

Outlast is hands down one of the scariest games I’ve ever played! Developed by Red Barrels, you step into the shoes of Miles Upshur, an investigative journalist exploring the insanely creepy Mount Massive Asylum. With just a camcorder and your own courage, you’ll have to sneak through the asylum’s dark corridors, avoiding the terrifying and deranged inhabitants.

The game’s atmosphere is so immersive, and the night vision mechanic made my heart race every time I had to conserve my camcorder’s battery life while uncovering the asylum’s twisted secrets. The gritty visuals, chilling sound design, and intense pacing all come together to create an unforgettable horror experience that still haunts me to this day. In short, its gaming elements are reminiscent of Amnesia and Resident Evil.

If you’re a horror fan, you absolutely need to play Outlast!

Alien: Isolation 

A survival horror game set in the Alien universe, offering a suspenseful and terrifying experience.

Seriously, Alien: Isolation is an absolute masterpiece for horror and Alien fans alike. Creative Assembly nailed it by putting you in the shoes of Amanda Ripley, who’s trying to survive on the eerie Sevastopol space station. The game offers a generational continuation of Ellen Ripley, the original protagonist in the 1979 movie: Alien. 

What really blew my mind was the insanely smart Alien AI that adapts to how you play, making each encounter with the Xenomorph heart-stoppingly tense. With hardly any resources, you’ve got to rely on stealth and smarts to outwit the Alien and other hostile creatures.

The game’s atmosphere, jaw-dropping visuals, and perfect homage to the iconic franchise make it a standout in the horror genre. Seriously, if you’re an Alien fan or love horror games, you can’t miss out on the spine-chilling experience that is Alien: Isolation!

Until Dawn 

An interactive drama and horror adventure game with a butterfly effect system, where players’ choices impact the story’s outcome.

OMG, Until Dawn is hands-down one of the most awesome horror games I’ve ever played! Originally released in 2015 for the PS4, this gem from Supermassive Games totally nails the interactive storytelling and creepy atmosphere that was inspired by 2010’s Heavy Rain on PS3.

You get to control eight friends stuck in a super creepy mountain lodge, with some seriously terrifying stuff lurking around every corner. The best part? The game has this insane “Butterfly Effect” system, which means all choices you make matter. Like, for real. It’s like you’re playing your own horror movie, and you’re the director deciding who lives or dies. Talk about pressure!

The graphics are absolutely killer, and the character development is so deep that you actually start to care about them (which makes the whole life-or-death thing even scarier). Plus, the soundtrack totally sets the perfect eerie vibe. If you’re into horror games, you HAVE to play Until Dawn. It’s a total game-changer!

Layers of Fear 

A first-person psychological horror game where players explore a Victorian-era mansion as a disturbed painter.

Guys, Layers of Fear is the ultimate psychological horror game that’ll mess with your head in the best way! Developed by Bloober Team in 2016, you play as a disturbed painter in a creepy, ever-changing mansion that’s seriously nightmare-inducing.

This game isn’t your typical jump-scare fest. It’s all about exploring the twisted mind of the protagonist, and trust me, it’s a wild ride. The puzzles are super engaging, and the visuals? Absolutely haunting. 

Layers of Fear is a unique horror game that’ll stick with you long after you’ve turned off your console. It’s like stepping into a surreal, twisted painting where reality and horror collide. With the obscure flashes between reality and delusion, it’s similar to psychological trips from Silent Hill or Jacob’s Ladder.

The Evil Within is an insanely intense horror game that’ll have you on the edge of your seat! Playing as Detective Sebastian Castellanos, you’re thrown into a nightmarish reality while investigating a gruesome mass murder. Tango Gameworks seriously outdid themselves with this 2014 release!

Get ready for heart-pounding combat, terrifying enemies, and a chilling atmosphere that’ll keep you hooked. And let me tell you, resources are scarce, so you’ll be strategizing every move to survive.

The Evil Within is an absolute classic in the survival horror genre, with its twisted visuals and gripping storyline. If you’re a horror fan who loves a challenge, you NEED to play this game. It’s a thrilling ride that you won’t forget!

What makes Darkwood so awesome is its focus on strategy and resource management. If you’re a horror fan who loves a good challenge and a super-immersive experience, you’ve gotta give Darkwood a shot. It’s an unforgettable ride!

Man, Demon’s Souls Remake is a total blast! Bluepoint Games nailed it, bringing the 2009 classic back to life with mind-blowing graphics and silky-smooth performance. The haunting vibes of Boletaria get me every time, and those demonic enemies never stop being terrifying.

The game’s got that perfect Soulsborne mix of edge-of-your-seat tension and adrenaline-pumping action. It’s tough, but so satisfying when you finally beat a tough boss or find a shortcut. Exploring the eerie world is both exciting and nerve-wracking, with danger lurking around every corner.

Demon’s Souls Remake is a must-play for horror game lovers and Soulsborne fans. Trust me, the challenge, atmosphere, and deep lore will have you hooked.

Dark Souls (Remastered) 

An amazing remaster of the original release in 2011.

Dark Souls Remastered is an absolute masterpiece, hands down! This 2018 revamp of the iconic 2011 action-RPG takes us back to the cursed land of Lordran with upgraded graphics and buttery smooth 60fps gameplay. The atmosphere is as chilling and intense as ever.

Exploring the twisted, interconnected world is so rewarding, and strategizing your way through Lordran’s treacherous regions just never gets old. The game’s notorious difficulty is what makes every boss fight and enemy encounter feel like a serious accomplishment. Seriously, it’s brutal, just like Ghosts n’ Goblins for NES was; it was the original Dark Souls difficulty! But, the game is seriously worth a try.

The fixed camera angles and limited resources amp up the tension, and the modern gameplay mechanics keep it feeling fresh. Solving puzzles, exploring, and strategizing in combat are so satisfying. Seriously, those dark, spooky halls never stop being terrifying!
